Silhouette Cutting Through Vinyl Backing

Hi i have the cameo 4 and my desings are cutting through the vinyl like they are supposed to but the issue is that some of the words aren t cutting at all i checked the cut lines and its not that and also on some of the designs it is almost like the vinyl moved because my writing isn t lined up on the vinyl like it is on my computer.

For me this is the bane of using vinyl. Once the vinyl is removed look at your test cut. It took me a long time to get it right and i often have to make small adjustments for various reasons ie. Personally after paying 299 for this machine i don t feel i should have to manipulate cut settings to get a decent cut.

Trying out new vinyl or felt a blunt blade or any other number of reasons. Did the machine cut all the way through to the back. This video shows how i resolved a silhouette vinyl cutting issue. Once the cut is finished use the unload button on your machine to unload your vinyl.

If your silhouette cutting mat is brand new you may want to de stick the cutting mat somewhat by blotting it with a clean t shirt. Did it cut cleanly through the vinyl. Can the triangle be removed completely without any places sticking. If your cricut cuts through the backing there are usually one of two possible issues.

One of the most common issues from silhouette cameo beginners is that their cameo 3 autoblade is cutting through the vinyl or other material and the backing. I can use an older style ratchet blade in the adapter and it will cut fine. Place the vinyl onto the silhouette cutting mat with the backing paper side down onto the mat making sure the vinyl is covering the same area where the design is placed on the virtual mat in silhouette studio. I sure hope it works. If you ve just replaced your blade and are having this problem you probably have the wrong blade. The same goes for the portrait 2 autoblade. If this happened the blade is cutting too deep.

Silhouette finally has more autoblades available and is sending me a new one. In most cases there are two quick fixes that will fix the issue and get you cutting successfully in a hurry.
