Seems they are eating the old paper backing that is falling off the old batt insulation. Make a paste of flour water and boric acid. But the insect known as the silverfish does come in through your exterior walls and has no problem breathing in your attic. The attic is often a good choice for them because it is not dehumidified by the ac in the summer or the heat in the winter.

I read online that they are not of any health concern so maybe i should just forget about it. What would you do. Since insulation is found in the attic generally one of the least trafficked spaces in the home it can certainly become home to these and other pests. Unfortunately these pests are nocturnal.

As the silverfish walk across or into the insulation the boric acid sticks to their bodies. I found silverfish in my attic. Would you recommend removing all the paper and then calling an exterminator. It has shiny silver skin like a fish.
