In the early 2000s art collectors christian and karen boros were searching for a home for their 700 piece collection of contemporary art.

It contains groups of works by international artists from 1990 to the present. Different facets of the collection are on public display in a converted bunker with 3000 sqm exhibition space. It is now a 3 000 m 2 exhibition space. In 2003 the bunker was purchased and fully converted by christian boros for his private art collection.

The julia stoschek collection is a private collection of contemporary international art with a focus on time based media. Founded in 2007 the private collection has its own exhibition building in düsseldorf and to supplement the main düsseldorf location starting june 2016 a space has been open to the public in berlin.
